Offecct Lab is a division within Swedish furniture maker Offecct tasked with experimenting with new materials and technical solutions.
Once an Offecct Lab project is completed it moves out of the lab and into the standard collection. Current projects involve for example GamFratesi, Cecelie Manz and CKR. One of the first projects to emerge from the lab was Jean-Marie Massaud’s Airberg. Airberg is characterized by its asymmetrical form and inflated appearance, it seems to float in the room. In fact Airberg is built on a wood frame with foam and upholstered in grey felt. Furthermore, Airberg has received Swedish design award Design S 2014 and an honorable Red Dot Award mention in 2015.
The unconventional design solutions pursued by the Offecct Lab can be seen as a part of a strategy to meet changing demands and increasing competition. The Lab is an effort to stay on top of technological and environmental challenges, collaborating with some of the most prolific designers such as except for the aforementioned Nendo and Luca Nichetto.
